Three types of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors must be taken on an empty stomach. This means taking the medicine at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating. The 3 ACE inhibitors are:
- Captopril (Capoten)
- Moexipril (Univasc)
- Perindopril (Coversyl, Coversum, Preterax, Aceon)
Other types of ACE inhibitors can be taken with or without food.
Depending on the medicine, you may or may not have it with your beef, chicken, or venison!
