Experts recommend that you eat less than 2 servings, or 6 ounces, of red meat each day.

One serving of meat is 3 ounces. That’s about the size of a deck of cards. For reference, most slices of lunch meat are about 1 ounce per slice. Steaks served at restaurants tend to be 8-12 ounces.

Studies have found that people who eat less than 2 servings of red meat each day have lower risk for heart disease and cancer compared to people who eat more than 2 servings a day.

Doctors aren’t sure if cutting red meat entirely is healthier. Studies have just found that eating red meat in moderation is better for your health.

For red meat, 6 ounces or less is best!
