You don’t have to avoid any foods while taking an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor.
Three types of ACE inhibitors must be taken on an empty stomach. This means taking the medicine at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating. The 3 ACE inhibitors are:
- Captopril (Capoten)
- Moexipril (Univasc)
- Perindopril (Coversyl, Coversum, Preterax, Aceon)
Other types of ACE inhibitors can be taken with or without food.
