On average, angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) lower the top blood pressure number by about 8 mm Hg. They lower the bottom blood pressure number by about 5 mm Hg. The ARB called losartan may lower blood pressure slightly less than other ARBs.

Remember, this is just an average. Your blood pressure may go down more or less than this.

Keeping both numbers down is important. High blood pressure can damage your heart, brain, and kidneys. Lowering your blood pressure may lower your chances of heart disease, heart attack, stroke, kidney damage, and death.

An ARB is one of the medicines your doctor may recommend to treat high blood pressure.

Less pressure, more health!
