A total knee replacement is a surgery meant to decrease pain and improve knee function in people who have severe, end-stage arthritis or osteoarthritis. Doctors perform this surgery by removing the diseased surface of the knee joint. Then they replace it with an artificial joint called a prosthetic.

People who are thinking about getting a total knee replacement usually have the following symptoms:

  • Pain in the knee
  • Knee stiffness and weakness
  • Are unable to move their knee fully
  • Difficulty walking
  • Swelling in the knee
  • Cracking or popping sounds in the knee

Your doctor will perform X-rays, blood tests, and scans to help you determine whether getting a total knee replacement is right for you.

Replace your knee and walk with more ease!
